Pook is a 90lb, 12 year old senior boy who ended up at Yreka ACO after his prior owner grew unable to care for his needs. Due to his age, we are hoping to get him into a cozy home as soon as possible to spend whatever time he has left in comfort. We dont know much about his personality yet as he is still scared and unsure of where he is but so far he has enjoyed soft pets, slow walks, and gentle brushing. For the most part, he has been pretty independent and just explores the area or naps on his bed.
He lived with a small dog in his prior home for 4 years but grew tired of its antics so larger, calm dogs may be best but he would likely prefer being your one and only furry friend!

Mochi and Coco have lived together since they were puppies.

Mochi is a friendly, easygoing Goldendoodle who loves people, outdoor adventures, and playing with other dogs.

Coco is a loyal female German Shepherd. She has recently become more anxious and reactive after a major change in our living situation. She is affectionate with people she knows, enjoys hiking, running, and playing with Mochi. She is crate trained, healthy, and comfortable wearing a basket muzzle when needed.

The two dogs enjoy being together during the day. For safety, we request that they sleep in separate kennels/runs and be fed separately, as Coco has had a few recent stress-related incidents while confined in a small space with Mochi. Outside of those situations, they enjoy each other’s company and play well together.

3 year old Pure Breed German Shepard. Great dog listens and is potty trained

We got Luna as a puppy from animal services in Oakland. She’ll turn 2 on August 1st. She’s very loyal, protective, obedient, trainable. She has excellent recall. She is one of those dogs that really wants to follow your instructions. She’s sweet and nice. Gets along really well with other dogs of leash. A little reactive on leash. She’s…OK with cats. I think she’d do fine eventually but needs more exposure. She’s good with kids. Not a huge cuddler, partly because she does not like to be on the couch (a plus). She prefers to cuddle in bed. She loves to run. Ok at fetch. Crate trained. House trained. Knows to ring a bell to be let out. She digs in the yard if not exercised. She’s a great house alarm as she barks when someone comes to the house. Even people she knows well. It takes her a little while to warm up to people because she is really focused on her people. Although she barks, she is not aggressive. Her genetic test shows Belgian mallinois, husky, and German shepherd, among other breeds.

Blue Heeler Looking for a Great Home

This isn’t an easy post to make, but we’ve decided it’s best to find our Blue Heeler a home where he’ll get the time and attention he deserves. He turns 1 year old in July.

He’s a great dog, friendly, loyal, and really good with kids. He loves being around people, playing outside, and being part of the family. He’s got a sweet personality and has been a good dog for us.

As a young Blue Heeler, he has a lot of energy and needs someone who can keep him active. He’d do best with:

A yard or property where he can run.
Someone who enjoys being outdoors and can give him daily exercise.
A home that understands the needs of an active working breed.
A family that will make him part of their everyday life.

We’re not in a rush, and we’re not looking to just give him away to the first person who asks. We want to make sure he goes to a good home where he’ll be cared for and have the life he deserves.

Frankie is an 80 pound three year old male German Shepherd who gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He LOVES people and would be a great choice for an active family, with or without another dog, that can take him out on runs, camping trips, or fun dog training events. Frankie is house trained and plans to spend his life getting to know you, so he would be crushed if he was not allowed in the house to hang out with his new family! If you love Shepherds, you will LOVE this boy!

Sophie is a happy, playful 2 year old spayed female Shepherd mix that gets along well with other playful dogs. She is not fond of young children or cats, but adores older kids and adults. She is house trained and crate trained, loves to play fetch, and is looking for an active family. Sophie needs a fenced yard and lots of love!
