BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Ashley Delaney, President

Hello humans and animal friends! I’m the Board President of the Humane Society, a role I’ve held since June 2026 after joining the board in 2024. By day, I save humans as an emergency medicine physician. By night and weekends, I’m basically a professional cat herder—literally.

I’m what you might call a professional animal lover. My household is living proof: three cats and two dogs who have collectively convinced me that I exist solely for their comfort and entertainment. Two of them, my crazy orange cat Ruffles and Fenrir the Great, both from the SHs, are the greatest love stories of my life (don’t let my 2-legged family members see that!).

When I’m not covered in cat hair or untangling dog leashes, you’ll find me skiing, mountain biking, gardening, or desperately trying to convince my family that yes, we should visit another country instead of adopting another pet. My husband and son are equally ridiculous about animals, so our family volunteer sessions are basically controlled chaos with a heart of gold.

My mission? To make sure every animal gets the love they deserve and to help our community see rescue animals as the absolute legends they are. Plus, I’m on a personal crusade to prove that shelter animals aren’t broken, they’re just waiting for someone equally weird to love them.

“My house may be a disaster, my schedule may be chaos, and my floors may be permanently covered in fur. But my heart? Completely full.”

Deb Harton, Member

Deb moved to Siskiyou County in 1990, but still considers herself a flatlander. She attended COS and later Chico State University under a full scholarship from the Ford Family Foundation. She worked for the County of Siskiyou. Always an animal lover, she maintains a poultry page on Facebook called ChickenFolk of Siskiyou County, rides horses, and traps stray or lost dogs in her spare time. Deb resides in Dunsmuir, and shares her life with a human teenager, one horse, three dogs, one cat and kittens, 30 chickens, and a large rat named Barry.

Katie LeBaron, Treasurer

Katie comes to the board as a life-long animal and nature lover. She lived and worked in the Bay Area, eventually making her way to rural Weed 12 years ago with hubby Davis and 4 cats in tow. Prior to retiring, Katie applied a Masters in Public Health to her work in Santa Cruz County, where she focused on community outreach programs, grant funding, budgets, staffing and volunteer oversight. Katie is an active volunteer who is committed to the welfare of the shelter animals and the staff who tirelessly care for them every day of the year. She is often at the shelter visiting the dogs and cats, covering the front desk or working vaccine and other SHS outreach events. Her goal as board treasurer is to work with fellow board members, staff and the community towards long-term sustainability of Siskiyou Humane Society.

Donna Crotty, Secretary

Hello, I am Donna Crotty and excited to be serving on the Board of Directors for the Siskiyou Humane Society.

I moved to Mt. Shasta in 1992 with my family and within 6 months I adopted my first cat Charlotte from the humane society and two months later my Crocker Spaniel named Cody. Throughout the years, I adopted a few more pets and within the last two years, I adopted my faithful Ryder after seeing him on a poster. I admit I am a foster fail.

I retired officially in 2025 after working almost 25 years as a social worker. Although I went to college to teach, I found my call to help others. I found that I was good at finding resources to meet other people’s needs and along the way met some incredible and hardworking people.

After relaxing for a few months, I did my first community volunteer by working the 2025 Brewfest and then the fundraiser at the Garden Tap. When I saw an opportunity to be on the Board, I felt that I could continue to help this amazing organization. I felt aligned with the mission statement and wanted to play a role in supporting the staff and volunteers in the organization.
