Introducing: Home to Home

Keeping animals out of shelters through direct home placement

Home To Home™ was created to help families, people, and pets with the difficult task of transitioning pet ownership from one home to another.

The platform works by allowing an individual to post a profile with pictures of their pet, which is then listed and shared with individuals and families who are interested in adopting a pet.

RE-HOMING YOUR PET

Need to Re-Home Your Pet?

We know making the decision to rehome your pet is not an easy one and we are here to help. Our goals are to keep pets in their current homes and, if that isn’t possible, to help you rehome your pet yourself in a safe manner without your pet ever stepping paw in the shelter.

Please look over the following information to determine the best course of action for you and your pet.

Please don’t wait until the last moment before moving or making big life changes to reach out.
We are usually at capacity in our kennels/cattery and have an Intake Waitlist which means it may take several weeks or more before an opening comes up if your pet is accepted into our Adoption Program.

Behavior Concerns

If you are considering rehoming your pet due to Behavior Concerns, we have a community dog training program for you! Please click the link below to learn about out Pawsitive Partners Community Dog Training Program and schedule your free training sessions today.

Request To Surrender Your Pet

We do not accept walk-in surrenders. They are by done by appointment only following review of your Canine/Feline Surrender Request, completion of Intake Evaluation and only when we have space available.

STEP 1: LIST YOUR PET ON EITHER HOME-TO-HOME OR REHOME

*Required* For our shelter to consider your surrender request, you MUST list your pet on either of these rehoming sites for a MINIMUM of 5 DAYS before you submit a surrender request to us directly. This gives the pet a chance to be rehomed directly from owner to owner, before coming into our shelter.

STEP 2: COMPLETE A CANINE OR FELINE SURRENDER REQUEST

This gives us necessary insight into your pet’s personality, habits and needs so we can begin to determine if our shelter is a suitable place for them.
Once submitted you will be contacted by shelter staff within 72 hours.

Submitting a Surrender Request is not a guarantee that your pet will be accepted into our Adoption Program.

STEP 2A: IF YOUR PET MEETS OUR CRITERIA BASED ON YOUR APPLICATION:

You will be given an appointment time to bring your pet into the shelter for an Intake Evaluation to determine if they will be accepted into our Adoption Program.

STEP 2B: IF YOUR PET DOES NOT MEET OUR CRITERIA BASED ON YOUR APPLICATION:

You will be contacted by SHS staff to discuss alternative re-homing options and other ways we can assist you.

STEP 3A: IF YOUR PET IS ACCEPTED INTO OUR PROGRAM PER THE INTAKE EVALUATION:

-If there is no space available at the time of their Intake Evaluation they will be placed on our Intake Waitlist. We have a limited amount of space so it may take several weeks or more before an opening comes up.

-If there is space available at the time of their Intake Evaluation they may be remaining at the shelter.

STEP 3B: IF YOUR PET IS NOT ACCPETED INTO OUR PROGRAM PER INTAKE EVALUATION:

You will be contacted by SHS staff to discuss alternative re-homing options and other ways we can assist you.
