Life-Long Support
Adopting is just the beginning. We offer two levels of help to ensure a smooth transition into your home:
In-House Guidance (Free) All SHS adopters have lifetime access to our staff for behavior support. While we aren’t certified trainers, we can help with common “new pet” hurdles like potty training, crate acclimation, and basic manners.
Professional Training (Case-by-Case)
For pets requiring advanced behavioral work, we partner with Freedom K9. This professional support is no longer open to all adopters but is offered on a case-by-case basis. If you’re facing a complex challenge, talk to us about a referral.
The Agreement Highlights
By signing our contract, you agree to provide a safe home and proper care.
- Balanced Training: We believe in clear communication. While we prioritize positive reinforcement, the use of training tools (like prongs or e-collars) is permitted provided they are used humanely and under the instruction of a professional trainer.
- Companionship First: Our animals are adopted as indoor family members, not for research, fighting, or outdoor guarding.
- No Declawing: You agree to never declaw a cat unless a veterinarian deems it medically necessary for the animal’s health.
- “As-Is” Adoption: We share everything we know about a pet’s history, but we cannot guarantee future health or temperament.
